Event Description:

Come camping in the Backcountry! Grab all your camping gear and head our way for some great family outdoor fun. This is perfect for both novice and veteran campers. Guest speakers will be present. Go for a hayride. Try your hand at archery. Take a hike and enjoy the sights, sounds, and smells of nature. Settle down come evening for storytelling and stargazing. Wake up to find a warm breakfast provided by Flippin’ Flapjacks.

Q. How many people can I bring?
A. Cost allows for one tent and no more than 5 people.

Q. Can I bring my dog?
A. No pets of any kind are allowed; this is a wildlife sanctuary.

Q. Do I have to arrive at 1:00PM?
A. No. You will have from 1:00-3:30PM to arrive and set up camp before activities really get started.

Q. Will anyone help me set up?
A. We will shuttle your equipment into the property. Cabela’s staff will be present to help you set up the actual campsite.

Q. How far will I have to walk to the campsite?
A. From the parking area to the camping area is about 400 yards.

Q. Can I have my own campfire?
A. No. We will have a communal campfire(s) just to make sure they don’t get out of control. Communal fires are also pending on fire restrictions.

Q. Can I bring a stove to cook on?
A. Yes. Gas burning stoves are okay to bring provided fire restrictions allow.

Q. What are bathroom facilities like?
A. We will have a porta potty available. Please note there will not be running water available.

Q. Do I need to bring my own food and water?
A. Yes. Bring your own food for dinner and snacks. Be sure to pack plenty of water as it will not be available. S’more supplies (marshmallows, graham crackers, and chocolate) are provided. Breakfast is included and will be provided by Flippin’ Flapjacks. Remember to not leave food out overnight.

Q. Will I be able to participate in all the activities?
A. Some activities will be limited and require a signup sheet that’s first come first serve.

What to Bring: Bring what you would to go camping: tent, sleeping bags, cooler, food, water, etc.

Location Details: Directions: From HR Parkway and Santa Fe, go 3.5 miles south on Santa Fe, turn left on Ron King Trail (Entrance to the Law Enforcement Training Facility). Once on Ron King, follow our sandwich board signs to our parking area.
