Join Friends of the Peak and Rocky Mountain Field Institute to help restore damaged areas near Severy Creek. RMFI has been working to restore areas damaged by sediment runoff from Pikes Peak Highway. This year, they invited Friends of the Peak to join them. Volunteers will collect native seed and disperse it to help areas recover. The group will carpool up the Pikes Peak Highway to the trailhead for Elk Park Knoll and hike in from there. The hike in is about 2 miles (4 miles round trip), starting from around 11,000 feet. Volunteers should be back to RMFI’s office around 3:30 p.m.
Free to participate; no experience necessary, minimum age 13 with a parent, 16 without.
